  3. asalamualaikum, Its great that you share recipies with people. I just found your blog and already loving it. I like how you change some of the somali recipe to make it your own. I do that also.

when i make bajiya i add tomato, garlic, onion, hot pepper and a little bit of self raise flour. Also i take the skin part of the beans out. i noticed you don't do that. when i soak the black eye peas in water i put in in a blinder add alot of water and blind it for like a sec to separate the skin part of the bean from the middle part. Then i drain it making sure to remove the skin at the same time. It the water is drained but there is still the skin left i add more water and drain it again until most of the skin is left.

When i finish doing that i put the beans in the blinder and add the other ingredients. this way the bajiyo tastes much better.

  4. Asalamu alaikum,
Do you need to use flour with this as well in order for it to stick together? I have tried a couple of times and the mixture dissolves in the oil. Any feedback?

  5. It sounds like you added too much water. The lady that made the comment before yours gave some fantastic suggestions.

  7. Can you use the canned black eye peas and can you use black beans instead? Is there any difference with the cooking if using the canned version?

  8. I have no idea if it would work. If you try it, let me know.
